[Editor’s note: I was up late. We don’t normally make wild comparisons as to what we sound like or take ourselves **too** seriously (as to think we are anything like some of the comparisons made in this post), but wanted to give you an idea of what we’re up to. All titles and songs referenced are subject to change. Enjoy.]
We have several new tunes simmering in the pot that we will be posting soon (ah, such an ambiguous word) to our soundcloud account. They may or may not be titled something along the lines of:
In This Together
Won’t Fade Scars Of A Ghost
“The Astronaut” is a slower spacey number in a nice lulling swing rhythm. It starts out softly and builds up into really ripping choruses and has a big extended ending. Think Purple era Stone Temple Pilots meets HUM.
“In This Together” is actually something we started working on back in May. It was just kind of a scrap jam idea that has turned into an absolute monster of a song. It’s very energetic, has some odd riffs and big open spaces, furious drums and is a really kickin’ little ditty. It sounds like if Rush played Soundgarden at double time.
“Won’t Fade” “Scars Of A Ghost” is a melodic rocker, uptempo song with a kinda pulsing bounce type rhythm. It has an undercurrent of sadness and an overtone of happiness, flipped with a touch of funkiness and an abundance of high level guitar crunch and pounding drums. The bridge of the song deconstructs the whole thing into bright guitar chimes and melodic bass tones, then the drums and (killer) lyrics bring it back up into a huge ending. We are definitely loving this one.
“Rising Sun” is something that in all most likely scenarios will stay as instrumental, because we just don’t think it needs words. It has a really dark tone that goes back and forth in this ‘tension and release’ type thing in 6/8 time, and this odd time sequence change up ending.
We’re hoping to have these recorded and and listenable condition, one at a time, in the near future. These have all been a lot of fun to write, and we hope you dig them too.
